GETTING TO & AROUND GSTAAD

The easiest way to arrive to Gstaad is by flying into Geneva or Zurich, Switzerland. From Geneva it is a 2 to 2.5-hour train ride or taxi; from Zurich it takes 3 hours. Trains operate regularly, with a connection in either Spiez (leaving from Zurich) or Montreux (leaving from Geneva).
We recommend booking your train tickets on this site: https://www.sbb.ch/en or to download the SBB App on the appstore. You can also get your tickets at the train station upon arrival. Please book your ticket from your departure station to the arrival station of Gstaad*.
*If you are are staying at the Huus Gstaad Hotel or Ermitage your arrival station will be Schönried.

For those of you who require a chauffeur service, please contact Royal Limousines at +41796610370. Your hotel can provide airport and local transfers as well.
If you do not want to take the train the whole way, Taxi Simon (Gstaad's taxi service) can pick you up at the airport or at your train connection location (Spiez, Zweisimmen, Montreux). Taxi Simon: +41337448080

We recommend taking the train to get to Gstaad's surrounding villages. If you are staying at a local hotel, make sure to ask for the Gstaad Card (digital guest card) which will give you free access to local public transport.

ACTIVITIES WE RECOMMEND

Famous for its luxuriously quaint town, breath-taking nature and as the go-to destination for royalty & celebrities, Gstaad also boasts world-renowned hiking, cycling, festivals and international sports tournaments.
The Gstaad region offers the Gstaad Guest Card to international guests, this includes free public transport and special offers.

Hiking & Cycling

The Gstaad region boasts over 300km of stunning hiking trails and 150km of cycling routes. The trails are well-indicated (signposted) and manicured. The trails range from beginner-friendly and short to steep, lengthy and advanced.

Gstaad & the Region

One of the many factors that makes Gstaad so unique, is it's car-free, chalet-style village. Enjoy a relaxed stroll through town, stop for the best hot or cold chocolate you'll ever have at the Gstaad Chocolate Shop, or a delicious coffee at Charly's, and have lunch at Cappuccino, Rialto or the Olden.
The Gstaad region has multiple such villages, namely: Saanen, Lauenen, Gsteig, Schönried.

Lake Lauenen & Lake Arnen

Located in the heart of a nature reserve, the Lake Lauenen & Lake Arnen wow its visitors. Surrounded by steep mountain slopes, densely populated forests and lush meadows, the trail leading round the lake is the best way to explore it in detail. A leisurely stroll, about 50 minutes, leads past the restaurant of the same name, where visitors can enjoy a Swiss lunch (get the Saucisse de veau & Rösti!), hire a boat or jump into the lake for a refreshing swim. Alternatively, a tour in vintage horse-drawn carriages is also ideally suited for getting to know the Lauenensee.
